Do any mummies struggle with baby weaning, or encourage your toddler to self-feed? I have been trying to train Asher to eat himself and many times, I wanted to give up and choose the easy way out. There was tons of food waste everywhere and my boy was seeing his meal times as a playtime after having a few spoons. However, things took a change when I tried out Baby Weaning Kit by doddl and Tidy Tot!
Latte Parents, the exclusive distributor of doddl and Tidy Tot products in Singapore and Malaysia, unveil two kits – ‘The Baby Weaning Starter Kit’ and ‘Junior Mealtime Essentials’ that will make your little one’s meal times much more enjoyable and at ease.
The minute when I saw the cutleries, I knew at once that this will simplify mealtime and encourage Asher to feed himself better thanks to the innovative grip design here! The grip design is helpful for our little ones to have better control of the spoon and promotes pincer grip, an essential fine motor skill for our daily activities!
Back when I was an early educator in the Early Childhood Industry, I remembered I had to plan a variety of activities to target training of fine motor skills for the children. Teaching the children how to feed themselves can be pretty challenging. But these cutleries from doddl just make sense. The process of guidance can be made easy with the right tools and methods.
I had Asher try out with the spoon first as he was not exactly ready to take on the full kit here. I knew it would be easier, but never had I thought Asher was able to manage well independently! Self-feeding seems to come magically with this little spoon! He was enjoying the process so much that he did not want me to help him at all! It was simply a grab, scoop, and eat! I can already see how happy and satisfied he was with himself!
Of course, there was still a big mess created, his clothes were wet with food, and the high chair and floor were a big mess! But hey dear mummies and daddies, this is a normal process for your little ones to learn and it’s our learning journey to embrace this mess as part of your little one’s growth! All we have to do is to clean up, isn’t it? Yes, it takes time to clean up the mess but taking care of your little one’s emotions and physical skills will be a much better reward for you in the long run as they grow to be more independent in their self-help skills!
Nonetheless, I have a solution for you too to prevent this mess! Read on more!
During the second week, Asher was ready to put on the bib by Tidy Tots. It comes together with a foldable tray that will minimize the mess on the hair chair and floor as your little ones have their meal times.
You can attach the bib to the foldable tray, leaving no gap between the baby’s chair and your little ones, hence reducing food waste and mess all over the place. The process of cleaning up here is easier as well
The best thing about these kits? Use it anytime and anywhere! You can simply fold it and put it inside your diaper bag or hang it! Convenient, hassle-free, hygienic! I don’t have to worry about my boy creating a mess when he eats outside now because honestly, it’s more inconvenient to clean up the mess when I’m out.
You’ll properly be wondering why am I not using this, life saver?! That’s because Asher has been resisting this and that’s all why I’m introducing this kit with one tool at a time. It’s ok to take things slow because there are no right answers when it comes to handling a baby or toddler. One step at a time! The most important thing here is to have your little one celebrate little wins!
The process of nurturing new skills can be tough and challenging at times, nonetheless, it can be very rewarding for both yourself and your little one. So don’t rush the process of it!
Here are some other tools that I look forward to introducing to Asher with it! Watch out for more of my sharings too!
