If there’s one thing that can transport me back to the wonder of my childhood, it’s a Roald Dahl story. And when that story comes to life on stage in the form of a musical, the “back to the past” magic is multiplied! Matilda The Musical is one of my favourite Roald Dahl books and I am a fan of the movie too.
As I sat in the grand Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands, surrounded by excited faces, I could not help but feel like a child again. “Matilda the Musical” had already won my heart with its reputation, but experiencing it live was an entirely different feeling altogether.

Adapted from the beloved book by Dennis Kelly, and featuring original songs by the talented Tim Minchin, Matilda The Musical follows the adventures of a remarkable young girl. With a sharp mind and a boundless imagination, Matilda dares to challenge the status quo and carve her own path in life.
With a staggering 101 international awards under its belt, including 24 for Best Musical, Matilda The Musical has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide. From London’s iconic West End to stages across the globe, this production has been captivating audiences for over a decade.
The energy in the theater was infectious, and the laughter of children filled the air. It was heartwarming to hear the joy in their voices as they were in Matilda’s world of imagination and bravery.
Each song was meticulously composed, drawing me into the story with its catchy melodies and lyrics. It was impossible not to tap my feet along to the rhythm and feel the emotions conveyed through every note. Of course, we could not overlook the adorable uniforms worn by the students of Crunchem Hall. With their oversized blazers and ties, it was a visual delight to see them perform.
