In this special column called the “TLC x Fempreneurs Series”, we will be featuring inspiring Female Entrepreneurs (Fempreneurs) in short. You will be able to have a sneak peek at their mindsets and their daily habits.
Believe in the power of community. On some days when you feel big goals are impossible, or when you feel like giving up, you need to lean on your like-minded community. You can even “borrow” motivation, and in turn “return” with your own inspiring stories to pay it forward.
Meet Rina Lee (Rina Lee Jewellery)
Tell us a little about yourself. What is your business/ brand about?
Hello! I’m Rina Lee, founder and designer of Rina Lee Jewellery, a Demi-Fine Jewellery brand based in Singapore.
What got you started on your business?
Entrepreneurship has always been a childhood dream of mine, and designing jewellery was a hobby which later developed into a full time passion.
Before you started your business, what did you do on a full-time basis?
I was an Art teacher at a secondary school.
What were some difficulties you faced in your life and how did you overcome them?
I would say one of the major difficulties was deciding to walk away from a stable job that I had for almost 10 years and deciding to start my own jewellery business. I was no longer fulfilled and carved a path that I felt was more aligned with my soul’s calling. I had many fears – from the fear of failure, disappointment from my parents to not being good enough. I had to undergo a complete mindset shift. I realised the only thing that was stopping me from reaching my goals, was myself. As the saying goes, if you believe it, you can achieve it! And of course you will have to put in the work, backed up by self belief.
Who inspires you?
My mom. I’m amazed by her ability to juggle many obligations yet still find the strength to be such a rock solid support for everyone.
What excites you most about your industry?
I think customers are becoming increasingly aware of what they are consuming, sustainability is important for the discerning individual. Here at Rina Lee Jewellery, we are committed to working with partners that value people and the planet.
What is your vision / personal motto?
With self-love, anything is possible.
What have you learned recently that you hope the other ladies can take back?
What you focus on grows – Be it positive or negative. So it’s important to put your energy on what you do want, rather than what you don’t want. Positive affirmations is a good habit that I practice every morning, it helps set the tone for the rest of the day. Always start your affirmation, with “I AM”, followed by what you want. For example, I am talented, capable and successful.
How do you think you can help ladies to feel confident and empowered?
I hope that through my designs and story-telling, wearing my jewellery would make women feel confident and empowered. Follow me on Instagram for inspirational quotes and wisdom. 🙂
What is one thing you are grateful for?
I am grateful to be well and healthy!
