Located in the heartlands of Kovan, this charming establishment is more than just a restaurant, it is a place where food and ambiance combine to create an unforgettable experience. As we ventured through their Instagram and Facebook pages beforehand, we were already excited about what awaited us.

The warm and inviting atmosphere of Alkove Bistro sets the stage for a delightful meal. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted by friendly staff and an ambiance that shouts out “coziness”. It is the perfect place for a romantic dinner, a gathering with friends, or even a solo treat-yourself evening.

Alkove’s menu showcases a harmonious blend of flavors that are French-inspired. Carefully curated by Michelin-starred Chef Haikal Johari, the bistro’s dishes consistently push the boundaries of innovation while paying homage to the classics.

For those who appreciate a touch of elegance in their meals, the Squid Ink Pasta is a must-try. Its deep, jet-black color and robust flavors make it an intriguing choice that’s as delicious as it is visually stunning.

We also ordered the Prawn Aglio Olio as well, but it was not the standout dish of the evening. It offers a decent combination, all coated in a flavorful garlic and chili-infused oil. It is a satisfactory choice for those seeking a seafood-infused pasta option.

Their Seafood Stew was absolutely delicious, with a tinge of spice with a good balance of flavours. The ingredients make this dish a must-try, especially on a cold day, this will warm you up almost immediately. Along with the variety of pasta, each has a taste that will provide the heartiness you need after a long day’s work.

But what’s a meal without dessert, right? Alkove Bistro knows how to satisfy a sweet tooth. The Chocolate Lava Cake, paired with a scoop of ice cream, is pure indulgence. The warm, gooey chocolate center contrasts beautifully with the cold, creamy ice cream, creating a dessert experience that’s nothing short of heavenly. The rich flow of chocolate makes it irresistible and an absolute pleasure to end your meal.

And let’s not forget the donuts! They’re a delightful treat that adds a touch of whimsy to your dining experience.
