Modern women in this era would love to have flawless and youthful complexion. Unfortunately, a lot of ladies are having pigmentations, scars, acne, freckles and pores issues. Are there any quick, safe and effective options to get a solution?

Our Founder, Jenny Lee shares her 1st PicoSure Laser experience via her Instagram, @jennylee_2012 and we are excited to share in-depth to unveil all your wandering thoughts about PicoSure Laser. Her face complexion currently looks fairer, radiant, even her pigmentation scar (on her left cheek area) and marks are visibly being lightened after a session!

What Are Picosecond Lasers?

Picosecond means 1×10-12seconds. Nanosecond means 1×10-9 seconds. A pico laser produces laser pulses with a pulse width of 0.000000000001 seconds. Yes, that is 12 digits behind the decimal point. A nanosecond laser produces laser pulses with the pulse width of 0.000000001 seconds (9 digits behind the decimal point). A pico laser produces pulse widths that are 1000 times shorter than the nanosecond lasers.

PicoSure is a Picosecond laser, which boasts more effectiveness and safety that traditional lasers. Picosecond lasers refer to the pulse duration of the laser, which is one-trillionth of a second. Picosure is used to treat pigmentation, acne scars, enlarged pores and acne.

This shorter pulse duration is said to give the picosecond laser increased safety, higher efficacy. It also helps to reduce damage and discomfort compared to traditional Q-switched lasers, which are nanosecond lasers (one billionth of a second).

Are There Any Side Effects For Picosure Laser? Is There Any Downtime?

In general, there are few side effects associated with the Picosure laser as it is considered a safer choice than traditional lasers. The risk for PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) is also much lower.

What to Expect During a Picosure Laser Treatment?

Patients will only experience a mild pricking sensation during the treatment. A topical numbing cream and a cold air blower will be used during treatment in order to reduce any discomfort. Generally, this is well tolerated by patients. The entire treatment should take around 15-20 minutes.

Jenny has sensitive skin and shared with us that her skin felt warm, and was slightly red (like a mild sunburn effect). The warmth and redness takes between 1-8 hours to go away. The friendly staff of The Artisan Clinic applied a cooling healing growth factors mask to soothe the skin’s redness. Dr Issac Wong also prescribed Hydrocortisone cream, Teoxane Deep Repair Balm & Artisan Luminous Shield for her post-procedure recovery.

Her 1st consultation and laser treatment took 20-30 minutes, the pre-laser numbing cream took 10-20 minutes and the post-treatment mask took 20 minutes.

She said that her Picosure treatment will take place once a month. Until she achieves fantastic skin, maintenance treatments will then happen once every 2-3 months.
