Meet Angelina Tan
Tell us a little about yourself.
Hi, I am Angelina, the managing director of BeauLab Pte Ltd.
I am a positive lady who is happily married with 2 lovely children. I have also been in the beauty industry for around 20 years.
Beaulab was started in 2007, and we specialise in delivering the top and finest skincare products to beauty salons and spas in the region. We provide the newest and most innovative products for the beauty industry to suit the ever revolutionary technology and beauty trends. We have a team of well-trained professionals to serve, educate and develop the business. We strongly believe in educating our clients and be informed of the latest trends in the beauty market, upgrading of essential skills and information is our core mission.
What got you started on your business?
20 years ago, I was working as a beauty development executive in a Japanese skincare company. My passion grew from there. There are so many skin concerns – acne skin, sensitive skin and also aging skin. Many people need professional advice on the right kind of products and technology to have good skin. The passion got me into setting up BeauLab and we brought in many useful products and technology to help our customers with varying skin conditions.
What were some difficulties you faced in your life and how did you overcome them?
I wouldn’t call them difficulties, I view them as challenges. One of the challenges I faced was dealing with people’s expectations in business. I believe in helping others with sincerity and putting ourselves in their shoes. Having the right frame of mind and a positive mindset helps me to overcome these challenges.
What is your vision / personal motto?
My vision is bringing people together with a good reason. My personal motto is respect is earned and not given. If you put in your heart, soul and time in something, I believe you will achieve what you want in life. Never give up!
Who inspires you?
My sister inspires me to have the right principles in life. She is 8 years older than me and has a beautiful family. I get to see how she grows her family and how she guides her children.
Do you have any word of advice for other ladies who are starting their business / starting to pursue their dream?
Ladies, believe in what you are doing. Remember why you started your journey in the first place and do not give up on your dreams. You are AWESOME!
How do you think you can help ladies to feel confident and empowered?
I am someone who loves to bring joy and positive energy to people around me. Our thoughts affect our mindset. It is important to stay positive and remind ourselves that we are blessed with good health. As long as we are healthy, we can achieve many things and we can contribute back to the society.
What excites you most about your industry?
I am excited by the results from our continuing efforts on training and helping our clients and their businesses grow.
What have you learnt recently that you hope the other ladies can take back?
Even in tough times, we must embrace everything that come our way and find ways to be innovative. We are fortunate to have technology that can help bring everyone closer. Also, I hope that as a female community, we can encourage and empower each other.
What do you do in your free time as self care? How do you unwind?
During my free time, I spend time with my kids. I want to create happy and meaningful memories for them. I love taking pictures of them because one day when they grow up, they can look back at the moments we spent together as a family. I unwind through self-care pampering treats like facials, massage, manicure and pedicure.
What is one thing you are grateful for?
World peace.
