How Can We Burn Fats Effectively?
Did you know that the calories for 7 pineapple tarts is equivalent to one bowl of rice? And how much CNY goodies have you consumed throughout the CNY? Fret not, I’m as guilty as you. Worst still, there are many CNY goodies left at home, are you still eating them for breakfast?
Now if you are like me, thinking of a solution to burn fats. Don’t worry – we are in this together! We have gathered some of the better ways to burn CNY fats while sleeping.
1. Sleep More
Yes, you heard us right – When you sleep more, the more fats you burn. Our body produces two hormones linked to our weight: Leptin helps to regulate your energy levels and keep your appetite low, while Ghrelin stimulates hunger and often initiates the need to eat.
When we don’t get enough sleep, our Leptin levels decrease and our Ghrelin increases. Therefore increasing our appetite during the hours where we are awake.
Have you had sufficient sleep throughout the CNY?
2. Consume Cottage Cheese Before You Sleep
Many says that you shouldn’t consume food before you sleep but that is not totally true. You can consume small amounts of cottage cheese before you sleep. Cottage cheese contains amino acid tryptophan that helps improves quality of sleep, and reduces the amount of time it takes to fall asleep. Hence, you are able to sleep longer and not feel hungry too often. Isn’t it great?
3. Take Sacha Inchi Oil (Cold Pressed Oil)
Cold pressed oils are not new in the market and many of us may be familiar with olive oil and coconut oil. But, did you know that the Sacha Inchi oil can help you manage your weight? Sacha Inchi is one of the richest plant based sources of Omega 3 fatty acids, which is known to regulate cortisol levels. This helps to reduce sugar cravings and lose weight. It is one of the few pure cold pressed oils which contains Omega 3-6-9 fatty acids.
You can incorporate Sacha Inchi oils into your diet, you can either take it straight from the spoon or drizzle it over salads and blend it into smoothies. The cold pressing process filters out any impurities from the oil so that it can be kept fresher for longer. The result is a nourishing oil with a mild and nutty texture.
Sacha Inchi oils may help to balance cholesterol levels, reduce blood pressure, promote cardiovascular health and treat rheumatic pain.
You can find Farmgrocer’s Sacha Inchi oils available at NTUC Hypermart, NTUC Finest and NTUC Extra. They are also available at Farmgrocer’s online store, Hock Hua Tonic stores and Redmart.
4. Eat All Your Carbs in the Day Instead
Try to consume your carbohydrates and the heavy bulk of calories in the daytime and less in the early evening. So that when you head to bed with less of the hormone insulin in your blood, your body can metabolise fat for energy while you sleep! Simple but effective!
5. Consume More Water in Your Diet
Research shows that drinking more water and keeping your body hydrated can help to increase your metabolism rate. “Drinking at least eight cups of water a day has been shown to boost metabolism. In addition, ice-cold water requires your body to use more calories to heat it to body temperature, providing you an added metabolism boosting benefit,” advises Palinski-Wade.
Water is also a healthier alternative compared to the sweetened drinks, so remember to drink more water ladies!
6. Consuming More Nuts
Nuts increase the amount of calories we burn: Not all of the calories in nuts are being absorbed, eating nuts may also increase the amount of energy and fat we burn. And walnuts and almonds can increase your melatonin levels and promote better sleep so we can burn even more fats.
However, don’t forget to eat in moderation!
7. Incorporate Resistance Training into your Life
Resistance training is an awesome way to boost your metabolism and to get the most out of it, try doing the exercise routine in the evening. Your higher resting metabolic rate will continue into the night, allowing for an increased rate of fat burning.
