In this special column called the “TLC x Fempreneurs Series”, we will be featuring inspiring Female Entrepreneurs (Fempreneurs) in short. You will be able to have a sneak peek at their mindsets and their daily habits.
Believe in the power of community. On some days when you feel big goals are impossible, or when you feel like giving up, you need to lean on your like-minded community. You can even “borrow” motivation, and in turn “return” with your own inspiring stories to pay it forward.
Meet Nicole Voon (MAMA J’s Confinement Food SG)
Tell us a little about yourself. What is your business/ brand about?
Hi, I’m Nicole, the creator of MAMA J’s Confinement Food, specializing in nourishing meals designed to brighten your spirits during confinement.
What got you started on your business?
I founded this business with a deep-seated passion for aiding mothers in their postpartum recovery journey. My mission is to provide essential support and nourishment to mothers during their confinement period.
Through MAMA J’s Confinement Food, I aim to contribute to the physical and emotional well-being of mothers by offering carefully crafted, mood-lifting meals that facilitate a smoother recovery process after childbirth.
Before you started on your business, what did you do on a full-time basis?
Before I began my business with MAMA J’s Confinement Food, I worked in the pastry arts.
What were some difficulties you faced in your life and how did you overcome them?
I am not sure which difficulty to highlight but I overcame them by believing that everything happens for a reason, even during tough times, I have hope that things will get better.
Who inspires you?
My husband is my biggest inspiration and motivation.
What excites you most about your industry?
What truly excites me in this industry is the opportunity to bring joy to mothers, one meal at a time.
What is your vision / personal motto?
Everything happens for a reason.
Do you have any words of advice for other ladies who are starting their businesses/ starting to pursue their dream?
You won’t know how it goes until you try, so just take the first step.
What have you learnt recently that you hope the other ladies can take back?
Recently I’ve learnt the power of network, and how supportive the women entrepreneurs are towards each other; instead of competing each other, we collaborate and complement each others’ businesses.
How do you think you can help ladies to feel confident and empowered?
It’s really amazing how much we can handle, sometimes I hesitate-thinking i might not be able to handle it all; but actually we can! We wouldn’t be given more than we can handle, so have faith in yourself.
What is one thing you are grateful for?
Grateful for a strong support system and a blessing to always meet good people.
What do you do in your free time as self-care? How do you unwind?
I paint, bake and spend time with my 2 year old son.
Let us know more about what you do!
