Tell us a little about yourself.
Hello! My name is Fathanah and I manage the brand, Sweety Care, exclusively in Singapore. Sweety Care focuses on quality baby products targeting to the mass with certification from Australian dermatologist.
What got you started on your business?
After 5 years of being in health/beauty industry business, it was in my plan to explore FMCG, so here I am today! I did side-line businesses back when I was still working full time and realised that my side business is what I really enjoy despite the stress. It’s more fulfilling and gives me satisfaction.
Before you started on your business, what did you do on a full-time basis?
I worked in the pharmaceutical logistics, was an internal auditor and did quality assurance before I went full gear in my current business. I only did it as a side-line before realizing this is what I love and enjoy doing more compared to my full-time job.
What were some difficulties you faced in your life and how did you overcome them?
Dealing with competition is one of the difficulties I’ve faced. It’s a never ending thing, and I learnt to just focus on things that I can control. Entrepreneurship is a lonely journey and it’s important to be mentally strong and independent. Give yourself a break when you need it.
Who inspires you?
Every successful person inspires me to work harder. I love to read on how they pursue their success and try to apply the tips they’ve given to the similar situations I face.

What excites you most about your industry?
It’s an on-demand industry with continuous advance technology. As I was building this brand, I found out I was pregnant, so it’s really an exciting journey for me!
What is your vision / personal motto?
My vision is to impact people’s lives by providing them choices of quality goods. I live by the motto. “Life is what you make it.” You decide your path, and you have the power to do so.
Do you have any word of advice for other ladies who are starting their business/ starting to pursue their dream?
Be brave to take the risk. You never know without trying. There are female entrepreneurs and they are successful individuals managing their own company, having their own stream of income and able to do what they desire. I always did a calculated risk to have a peace of mind.

How do you think you can help ladies to feel confident and empowered?
Honestly, low self-esteem has always been my number #1 struggle. I often overthink but what I did to overcome is to do a calculated risk management and planning to assure myself.
What have you learned recently that you hope the other ladies can take back?
Ethics in business. It might be an easy way out, but it will never last. I’ve seen and been affected by competition, but never stoop to their level. I always believe in integrity and honesty – you will never regret this.

What is one thing you are grateful for?
My support system. I’m really grateful for a very supportive husband and family who are constantly checking me in to ensure that everything is well.
What do you do in your free time as self-care? How do you unwind?
I enjoy some TLC time for myself like going to the beauty parlour. Other times I enjoy feeding the community cats since I don’t own one. It’s so stress relieving!
