Tell us a little about yourself. What is your business/brand about?
My name is Arinah Rahid and I’m the Founder of White Pyramid Gallery & Nail Bar. I’ve spent most of my youth abroad from France to the Far East, and my educational background lies in Architecture.
Despite not having any prior entrepreneurship experience, I made the decision to launch my business during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a firm believer in making beauty, wellness and art accessible to everyone, I was able to open up my first store and conceive my own space to blend the art and fashion scene together. In the span of one year, I was able to open up two more stores to share more of my dream with the world.
What got you started on your business?
I saw an opportunity to create something different for people to enjoy getting their nails done and admire the artwork in the same space.
My background is in art and I’m very much connected to the local art scene.
This allows me to witness new and upcoming artists. I’ve used the same resources to look for international artists that might not have the chance to receive exposure in Singapore.
Before you started on your business, what did you do on a full-time basis?
After my last job, I’ve decided to take some time to focus on myself and explore more about entrepreneurship.

What were some difficulties you faced in your life and how did you overcome them?
Generally, I have met with some hiccups along the way, but with a positive and strong mindset, I was able to overcome all of life’s challenges.
Who inspires you?
Architect Dame Zaha Hadid. She is well-known as Architecture’s “Queen of the Curve” for her swooping designs (For example: London Aquatics Centre and the Galaxy Soho in Beijing) She is a brilliant and empowering force in the industry that inspires me in my line of work.

What excites you most about your industry?
What excites me most is that I am creating an environment where people can come to White Pyramid Gallery & Nail Bar to relax while enjoying the creative process involving their nails.
We’re also roping in artists to give them the opportunity and platform to showcase their artwork within our gallery. I believe this collaboration can help connect the artist with the people creatively.
What is your vision / personal motto?
My personal motto is that there are no shortcuts in life, and we have to work hard to achieve the life and the things we want.
Do you have any word of advice for other ladies who are starting their business/ starting to pursue their dream?
Don’t be afraid to take the first step and don’t be discouraged by other people’s opinions. Also, always be prepared for any challenges along the way.
How do you think you can help ladies to feel confident and empowered?
By creating a wellness environment where ladies can come to connect and distress, and they can walk out with confidence.
What is one thing you are grateful for?
I feel grateful for having the opportunity to start my own business and share my passion for art and wellness.
What do you do in your free time as self-care? How do you unwind?
On a regular basis, I do yoga, it helps bring me a sense of calm, clarity and contentment.
I attend HIIT classes to make me feel stronger so I can take on everyday life challenges. Sometimes I relax by visiting spas and indulging in facial treatments.
