Global apparel retailer UNIQLO is back again with another unique collection for their pokemon fans as they will be releasing the Pokémon Meets Artists UT (UNIQLO T-shirt) collection in October. Contributors to this collection of adult and kids T-shirts and sweatshirts are Meguru Yamaguchi, a New York-based artist who has become well known in his native country of Japan, and James Jarvis, a renowned British artist.

Meguru is known for using his signature brush strokes to show courageous Pokémons in battle which has resulted in highly refined fashion items for adult fans like myself. James Jarvis then presents his own playful Pokémons with cartoon-style illustrations for the younger ones. Both designs cater to fans who love the cuteness of these pokemons as well as those who love the cool fights. Both designers have portrayed their own definition of each of the pokemons. My favourite pokemon is definitely pikachu and I love Meguru’s depiction of it. If you would like one for yourself or for your family, please see the details below for designs and availability.

About Meguru Yamaguchi

Meguru was born in Tokyo in 1984. He moved to the United States in 2007, and lives in Brooklyn, New York. His signature traditional brush strokes transcend the styles of borders and eras to sublimate contemporary expressions. His best-known piece is OUT OF BOUNDS, in which brushstrokes break out of the boundaries of the canvas to exist independently. He deconstructed and rebuilt that approach in his SPLITTING HORIZON series.

About James Jarvis

James hails from London. His work has encompassed cartoons, comics, graphics, sculpture, and printmaking. He is particularlyinterested in art, language, philosophy, architecture, and skateboarding.
