Hair Makeover for Pre-wedding Shoot at Shunji Matsuo Ngee Ann City
As I am writing this, I realised that I’ve been with Shunji Matsuo for 3 whole years! I started “a Monthly Hair Affair” with them and ever since then, they’ve become part of my life.
2017 seems to be the year of marriages (not for me!) for my friends, relatives and even my siblings. Whilst most influencers and bloggers will be their own model, I love introducing my friends and family to experience the great experiences I had.
Renee, my future sister-in-law is getting her pre-wedding photoshoot done in Taiwan and she wished to have a hair makeover and try out something adventurous. She was keen to have a silver ash colour, but at the same time she was worried that the bleaching will spoil her already-thin and dry hair.
Approximately 6-7 days prior to her photoshoot, she went to Shunji Matsuo Ngee Ann City for her makeover and got Justin as her stylist. Justin introduced the PRIMIENCE hair color series.
The assistant first applied the Arimino Sherpa Conditioning Mist to increase the moisture retention and protect + prepare the hair for the chemical treatments.
Renee hoped to have a two-tone (black to ash grey) hair style, but as we won’t know what hair styles will the makeup artist be creating, the two tone hair might look like a black head with grey bun if the hair is being bunned up. He suggested doing highlights instead, so that the streaks can be seen even from far.
Gentle Reminder: I always get my hair done on the day of the photoshoot so that the colours will be closest and the most vibrant. However, not everyone can do this especially if the photoshoot is overseas or early in the morning. So it is important to tell your stylist the date of your photoshoot so that he can best advise on the colours and results.
This is the result after the first round of bleaching. As Renee’s photoshoot is almost a week away (from the hair makeover), the ash grey hair might not be able to last that long on it’s first dye. So how can she get the results she want?
Results
You might not be able to see from the photos, but what Justin did was to dye her hair blue instead of the Ash grey she hopes to achieve. If her hair was dyed grey from the start, by the time she had her photoshoot, it would have become blonde.
Hence, Justin gave her blue highlights, which will turn into ash grey after several washes.

Tada~ Here’s the results of the hair makeover with the bridal hairstyles. Having the highlights provided a nice layered and volume to the hair styles, making it look slightly more 3D as compared to a pure black hair.
