More than 34,000 Gates of Fortune located around Singapore, and over SGD 150,000 in cash prizes to be won!
Fire up those smartphones as the Zodiac hunt is back, and it will be island-wide this Chinese New Year (CNY)! From 10 to 14 February (“game period”), DBS/POSB customers will be able to play POSB #HuntYourZodiac, an interactive virtual mobile game that integrates location-based technology, from wherever they are in Singapore.
Players will be able to embark on an exciting virtual hunt for 60 Chinese zodiac animals[1] scattered across more than 34,000 locations (“Gates of Fortune”) all around Singapore, while navigating numerous challenges and dealing with cheeky escaping zodiacs along the way. Players who successfully capture zodiac animals stand to win “Angbaos” totalling SGD 150,000, and receive specialised horoscope predictions based on the zodiac animals and elements corresponding to their birth year.
To boost their chances of capturing these zodiac animals, players just need to transact via their DBS PayLah! app at merchants/stores[2] during the game period. Leveraging DBS’ payment integration capabilities, these transactions will be eligible for redemption as in-game power-ups (“Oranges”).
With POSB #HuntYourZodiac expanded island-wide this year, the game will be more accessible for customers and ensures a safe playing environment by alleviating risks of crowding at specific locations. It is also programmed with in-game reminders calling for players to observe safe distancing measures, and prioritise safety at all times.
POSB #HuntYourZodiac is part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to leverage its technology and gamification capabilities to offer customers a truly immersive and engaging experience on its platforms.
Specially designed for CNY, DBS/POSB co-developed #HuntYourZodiac with home-grown game developer Sqkii and first piloted it at last year’s River Hongbao event, during which visitors hunted for the zodiac animals on-site. POSB #HuntYourZodiac snagged the Gold Award at the recent 2020 Marketing Events Awards.
Besides POSB #HuntYourZodiac, DBS/POSB has also launched other games including the CNY TapLah! mobile game hosted on DBS PayLah!, in which customers play for chances to win cash prizes; and FORTNITE X Live Fresh, which virtually recreated Singapore’s iconic Zouk nightclub via popular multiplayer game Fortnite, and welcomed players to revisit it as their favourite Fortnite character in a challenge to collect coins, or just hang out on the dance floor.
