Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as Mooncake Festival, is a great opportunity to spend quality family time. Parents and grandparents often indulge in tea and mooncakes, while the children play with the lanterns. It is a form of reunion when they hang out together. This year, the Mid-Autumn Festival coincides with the September school holidays. Wondering where to bring your family to celebrate this season? Fret not! We have a list of activities that allows you to have an awesome bonding time!

#1 Gardens by the Bay 

The Gardens by the Bay never fail to amaze me. You can get an unique experience admiring the tallest display of floating lanterns (Wow, they stretch over 120 metres!). If you take part in the mass lantern walk, you can get free LED fabric lantern. There are lantern riddles activities, as well as a spread of Asian delights at their food street!

#2 Lakeside Garden, Jurong Lake Gardens

From 6th September onwards, there are daily activities or performances to keep you and your family entertained this Mid-Autumn Festival. The specially curated sunset tour of the gardens, daily performances and workshops will maximise your experience with the nature.

#3 Sweet Reunion with Sanrio Characters at Jurong Point 

Sanrio lovers, do not miss this as the Jurong Point mall is decorated with Sanrio Characters lanterns and instagrammable decoration. You can get to win Sanrio plushies and take part in their lucky draw.

#4 Moonstruck at Singapore Sports Hub

Shoutout to handicraft lovers – You can join in the creative lantern making contest at the Singapore Sports Hub. Otherwise, you can head for their moonstruck walk, which is a guided evening-to-night tour of the Sports, Arts and Heritage trail. You can also have a great bonding time with your family by joining in their movie screening. Picnic mat is provided for first 100 families. Bring your own mooncake and tea and enjoy the breeze!

#5 Inaugural Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration at Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre

Get to watch the Mid-Autumn Characters come alive with Paper Monkey Theatre and get to know know the Tales of Houyi through Teochew Opera. There are activities like LED Lantern making for kids, solve the mystery of Operation Rescue Mid-Autumn and Heritage trail of Singapore’s “Wall Street”. Do register your interest as the Celebration is only on 14th September.

#6 Moonfest at Esplanade 

Meet the mascots of Chang Er’s legend and snap photos with them. Get entertained by Chinese Opera performed by young performers under aged 14, and have a great laugh by Singapore’s top radio group Yu Jian Huang Chong with their music and mass lantern walking and many more. Activities is between 13th September and 15th September.

#7 Bicentennial Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration at Chinatown

With the whole stretch of Chinatown decorated with lanterns, it is no wonder that it is an iconic time to come chinatown during Mid Autumn festival. The Bicentennial Mid-Autumn Celebrations comprise of nightly stage shows at Kreta Ayer Square, mass lantern walk, festive bazaar and trade fair!

#8 Mid-Autumn Wonders at Vivocity

Vivocity has Alice in Wonderland theme for this Mid-Autumn Festival. You will be dazzled in this wonderland tale while admiring the Alice in Wonderland characters life-sized lit lantern.
