Believe in the power of community. On some days when you feel big goals are impossible, or when you feel like giving up, you need to lean on your like-minded community. You can even “borrow” motivation, and in turn “return” with your own inspiring stories to pay it forward.
In this special column called the “TLC x Fempreneurs Series”, we will be featuring inspiring Female Entrepreneurs (Fempreneurs) in short. You will be able to have a sneak peek at their mindsets and their daily habits.
Meet Jane Blanloeil
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am Jane Blanloeil, on social media known as @janecpy. I took on my husband’s family name, I’m Singaporean!
I started Puttot Singapore in 2016 with one brand. The company distributes international baby and kid brands in Singapore and Brunei. Today, it is the distributor of 3 international brands; Childhome from Belgium, Moulin Roty from France and OOLY from USA.
What got you started on your business?
I was carrying my first child and was looking for modern Scandinavian looking furniture and toys that will suit into everyday’s home interior. Most parents would look to Ikea the first thing. But I prefer something uncommon. My husband is French, we chanced upon our company’s first brand when we were in France visiting our family, and thought why don’t I bring it into Singapore myself. And that’s how my journey begins.
What excites you most about your industry?
The smile on both parents and children’s faces when they receive our toys and products. I get that butterfly feeling when I see a child carrying our soft toy or enjoying our games and books.
What were some difficulties you faced in your life and how did you overcome them?
There were a handful of difficulties in life. Life is a roller-coaster they say, but I’ve always remember to stay positive, and move forward.
What is your vision / personal motto?
Where there’s a will, there’s a way!
Who inspires you?
Jessica Alba! I follow her story for quite a while now. She has 2 children and manage a successful company that inspires and empower people to live a happy and healthy life.
Do you have any word of advice for other ladies who are starting their business / starting to pursue their dream?
Have a growth mindset and never be afraid to ask for advice and help!
How do you think you can help ladies to feel confident and empowered?
Thinking positively helps women confidently solve problems. Listen to podcasts that makes you feel motivated, confident and empowered.
What have you learnt recently that you hope the other ladies can take back?
Be patient. Don’t expect flower the next day after you’ve plant a seed.
What is one thing you are grateful for?
My family. =)
