Homegrown Oral Care Brand Pearlie White® Awarded With Halal Certification
Homegrown oral care brand Pearlie White® announces the First local Halal-certified oral care manufacturing facility and the First locally made halal-certified toothpaste and mouth rinses, effective June 2022. Pearlie White operates the only GMP (ISO22716), and is now a halal-certified, oral care manufacturing facility in Singapore.
In a process that took over 18 months, the homegrown oral care brand embarked on obtaining halal certification to build a reputation of trust and integrity for its products to the Muslim community in its key Asian and Middle Eastern marketplaces where halal-certified oral care products are highly valued (and at times, a regulatory requirement).
Pearlie White’s application was filed with Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) and involved three main components, namely Personnel and Processes, Equipment and Facilities, and Ingredients.

The whole process incurred significant time and expenditure to ensure that the team would be trained and equipped with skills in respect to the principle of halal manufacturing; as well as ensuring that Pearlie White’s manufacturing equipment and facility comply with halal manufacturing requirements. In addition, all of the different ingredients used in Pearlie White’s toothpaste and mouth rinse variants had to be halal certified.
Today, Pearlie White® is synonymous with high-quality and effective oral health solutions, boasting a wide range of oral care products that address a variety of oral health needs. The brand is marketed globally but it remains fully Singapore-owned, maintaining its headquarters, research and development (R&D), and manufacturing facilities in our country.
