When I arrived Featherz Studio, I was greeted by the lovely CiCi, the director and perm specialist. I told her that I wanted to a baby highlight and a Korean big wave perm because I have very flat straight hair that does not have much volume.

After CiCi’s thorough assessment, I was advised by her to not do a perm because my hair has been damaged by my home dye jobs done by myself. So she decided only to do baby highlights. While assessing my hair, she also realized that there was a circular patch of dark hair at the back of my head. It was probably due to my unskilled home-dye jobs (see pic below). She was determined to fix this!

I asked for the lightest colour she could go for my hair without damaging my already damaged hair. CiCi told me that it is best I go for a colour that is not too light so when my roots grow out, (I told her that I am very busy and only have time for long salon visits twice a year), and I wanted an easy to maintain coloured hairstyle. This way it would not be so obvious and can buy me more time in between my hair jobs. I thought what CiCi said made a lot of sense so I agreed. I really like how CiCi really puts my interest first when it comes to my hair!

So the hair job begins! CiCi told me that they use organic hair dye, Napla, which is much more gentle on the hair than other products.
