Meet Farrah Rahman (Hellokraf)
Meet Farrah Rahman, the co-founder of Hellokraf. She is based in Malaysia. Hellokraf was also featured in Mingguan Wanita, Pesona Pengantin, Astro, TV3.
Tell us a little about yourself.
Hi, my name is Farrah and I am the co-founder of Hellokraf. Hellokraf is committed to providing a selection of high-quality and meaningful favors as well as exceptional customer service. At Hellokraf, we believe in celebrating life, every occasion, every milestone, every laugh, and smile, or even tear. These moments make them extra special and we want to be there to help everyone celebrating life, one event at a time. We also believe these life phases/series of events to be celebrated and favors are an important part of every special milestone. We love to inspire and help everyone to find perfect way to honour their achievements and to thank their loved ones!
What got you started on your business?
We saw an opportunity and because we needed to make a change. We love the idea of gifting our guests a token of appreciation and to be able to thank guests by giving them something meaningful and eco-friendly. For us, when it comes to giving wedding favours, we’ll make sure they are also gifts that can be used and reused. Not only show the guests how much we care about them, but it will also show how much we care about the planet too.
What were some difficulties you faced in your life and how did you overcome them?
It is true that every single entrepreneur faces a lot of challenges to achieve success. For women, the obstacles can be quite unique.
Sometimes I have difficulties to balance work with my personal life. I always wonder, can I/we women really have it all? Running my own business takes significant time and effort, but we also have control of schedule flexibility.
I found a ‘work-life blend’ can make my work and personal life integral part of it. Hence, to create a healthy work and personal lifestyle for both me and family.
What is your vision / personal motto?
Prepare for the worst, hope for the best, and expect nothing.
Who inspires you?
I find inspiration in a lot of people and things. I am inspired by individuals who can make their decisions with high standard of ethics and integrity. I would have to say that my partner has greatly inspired me with that. He tells me once, “to be successful, you have to take risks, don’t fly too low, fly high. If you crash, you will pick yourself up and fly again. If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
Do you have any word of advice for other ladies who are starting their business / starting to pursue their dream?
The moment you believe you can’t do it, everything will begins to crumble. Don’t stop give up on you dreams, you can’t follow your dreams at a leisurely pace, give them 100 percent of your effort if you want to achieve them.
How do you think you can help ladies to feel confident and empowered?
We women have this difficulty of developing self confidence. Always believe that you, and only YOU, can make new things happen in your life. No more excuses, no more sighs and ready to take action. Do so with a semblance of outward confidence, the inward, true feeling of confidence, will follow.
What excites you most about your industry?
Favours and gifts is fascinating because of the value itself. We always knew how stressful and emotional planning a wedding, or any event can be. Our mission is to help them make the process a little less stressful, even enjoyable and hopefully they will be inspired by all the products and unique ideas on our page. Whatever the celebration may be, we hope to make a difference.
What have you learnt recently that you hope the other ladies can take back?
Plant your garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers. Treating yourself as well as you wish to be treated by others. Give yourself a long and loving hug today. Buy yourself a treat… not to fill a void in your heart, but simply to say, “I love you for who you are, not for who I expect you to be.”
What do you do in your free time as self care? How do you unwind?
Catching up with family and friends to bring those stress hormones down. Haha. For me, socialising sometimes help to keep your emotionally vibrant and mentally sharp.
What is one thing you are grateful for?
I have a lot to be grateful for. One thing I am grateful for is my life. Many individuals specifically don’t get a chance to make it as far as I did. Disease, poverty or money, but I am lucky. I got to live, to survive, to exist and to be able to dream.
