Joanne got married at the age of 19 and also had her first born child on the same year. As a young mother, she stepped into the workforce early without furthering her studies. Not long later, her company went through difficult times and had to close down. Her husband, who was also in the same company, became jobless too.
The financial instability made it impossible for Joanne to be a stay-home mother. Joanne then headed to work in a beauty salon for 2 years where she obtained her skills on eyelash extension, eyebrow embroidery and facial therapies. She enjoyed the job very much, but was affected by politics and poor management treatments. She was not allowed to have her meals after back-to-back appointments; she could not use her phone to contact her family during free time slots and was made to work longer hours without pay increment. She knew such an environment would worsen not just her physical health but also her mental health.
