Yakiniku – ten no Intia

With a Yakiniku-ten no Intia vibe, it’s a cosy place for casual BBQ with family and friends. Representing The Ladies Cue, I am honoured to be invited to try out their BBQ to satisfy my craving for good beef.

Wide Selection Of Alcohol And Non-Alcoholic Beverages

Japanese Whiskey

Hitoyoshi Yakiniku has a wide selection of alcohol. From towers of beer, to different flavours of highball and different brands of Japanese Whiskey. As they listened to their customers, upon constant requests, they brought in Korean Soju to go with their grills. Not forgetting those who don’t drink, they have a different range of Calpis and soft drinks to choose from. Due to my heavy travel schedules recently, I opted for hot green tea instead!!

The Main Course

Hitoyoshi Yakiniku has recently launched a set meal for the convenience of those who couldn’t decide what to choose. I was recommended to try their beef and so I have chosen their Premium Beef Set which comes with 6 different cuts of beef and other dishes which I’m listing below.

Banchan

You might wonder, how come there are Korean style side dishes in a Japanese BBQ restaurant?  In Singapore, we are a multi-cultural, multi-racial society. The locals are spoilt for choices when it comes to food. In order to be competitive, listening to what customers want is crucial. Hitoyoshi Yakiniku has done that and due to popular demand, they improvised Japanese BBQ with some Korean add on such as these Banchan. There are a total of 9 side dishes served where the choices defer daily, depending on the freshness and availability of ingredients in the market. This is free flow so you can eat some greens together with the meat.

Kimchi Soup

Soup is always a staple dish that is comforting to the body and soul. It provides sufficient liquid to help digestion. This set has two types of soup to choose from ; Kimchi soup or beef soup. I opted for Kimchi soup. The soup has a decent amount of seafood and tofu, cooked in a hot stone bowl to preserve the heat. The soup is clear and has the tanginess of kimchi with a slight sweetness in it.

Omelette

Eggs are favourite to many so having eggs as one of the dishes is a comforting sight to behold. This restaurant has made an extra effort to cook this dish right in front of us. A combination of sesame oil, chive and some light seasoning, this dish tastes extremely well when it’s at room temperature, at least to me. It will be a favourite of both adults and children.

6 cuts of beef

This set includes 6 different cuts of beef. Each has a minimum of 160 grams of protein and is nicely displayed for grilling on the smoke-free BBQ pit.

Beef Tongues

I started with the beef tongue. Many might freak out over the name (or the part of the beef) but I would suggest that those who have not tried, should give it a shot. The taste is just like beef while the texture has the uniqueness of a slight crunch. It’s a delicacy. Who knows, after eating this, you can speak really well 😊

Beef Tartare

Beef Tartare

Beef Tartare is another selection of beef served in this set where you mixed the raw beef with Japanese pasteurised egg and spring onions. Eat it with prawn crackers provided. This will go really well with beer.

A5 Wagyu Beef

There are 4 more cuts of beef such as A5 Wagyu Karubi, Aust Wagyu Karubi, Beef Ribs and Beef Plates. Each cut is sizable to be cooked fast and nicely on the grill. Without doubt, the wagyu is the tastiest but I believe everyone has their favourite wagyu. A5 Wagyu has higher fat content and evenly spread marbling. When cooked in medium rare, the texture is literally melted in your mouth effect. On the other hand, Australian Wagyu which has lesser fat content, is meatier and has more of the beef taste. So which one do you like?

Pork Belly

Pork Jowl

The pork selections are also very well presented and I couldn’t resist but want to have a taste of them. Pork belly and pork jowl are served to share among those invited guests and we are happy that we get the chance to try them. Nicely marinated and enough fat content to make it tender and juicy.
