In November 2022, in an event set to congregate key players of the global cosmetic industry, the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and in collaboration with Cosmetica Italia – the personal care association, is taking beauty to new heights by bringing 72 Italian cosmetic brands to our shores at Cosmoprof Asia 2022, the most important trade fair in the cosmetic sector, organized by Bologna Fiere Cosmoprof S.p.A. Following a two-year hiatus, the fair is set to be held from 16 – 18 November 2022 at the Singapore EXPO, where cosmetic companies from all over the world are set to gather and showcase their most recent innovations — all in a bid to harness the knowledge and creativity behind a new wave of discoveries for the beauty industry.
Hitting the Shores for the First Time
Having been held in Hong Kong for consecutive years, Cosmoprof Asia 2022 marks the inaugural staging of the fair here in Singapore. This strategic decision follows the team’s understanding of the Singaporean market, where local consumers are well-known for placing personal care and wellness at the forefront of their priorities.
Dating back over 50 years, Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna has been fervent in their support for companies in the cosmetic sector to develop new business opportunities across global markets through networking. The strong relationship between the Italian Trade Agency, Cosmetica Italia, and BolognaFiere Cosmoprof has provided platforms to boost the presence of Italian brands globally. ITA’s participation in Cosmoprof Asia 2022 stands as the most recent endeavor of their combined efforts.
The Italian Participation
Under the organization of the ITA and with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian pavilion is set to feature 51 skincare, 19 haircare, and two contract/private label manufacturing companies at Singapore EXPO Halls 2-4-6. Beyond this pavilion, there will also be an additional 26 Italian companies exhibiting autonomously, bringing a total of 98 Italian companies to the fair.
The Italian participation in Cosmoprof Asia 2022 is also supported by Cosmetica Italia, which has been representing the voice of the national cosmetic industry for over 50 years: today it represents over 630 companies, from SMEs to multinationals, and it is the Italian reference point for the sector in the technical-regulatory and economic fields. It supports companies in the development of their business in Italy and abroad and promotes the sector’s reputation with targeted communication projects.
Apart from the event, ITA will further underpin Italian companies by scheduling business-to-business meetings between Italian companies and importers and distributors from South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. This initiative seeks to encourage the development of partnerships between Italian companies and other global players.
Singapore As A Tactical Location For Italian Exports
With Singapore as a strategic access point for consumers in the ASEAN countries, the presentation of Italian brands has been more meaningful. In 2021, Italian exports to Singapore were worth more than 54 million euros, recording an increase of 4.2% compared to that of 2020. The high quality and the science-driven approach of Italian brands is what attracts the Singaporean consumer and they are keen on taking this relationship to the next level with their presence in this year’s Cosmoprof Asia. Additionally, Italy is also the 11th largest supplier of cosmetics to Singapore, making the latter an integral commercial partner in the ASEAN region for export and distribution in this area.
Cosmoprof Asia 2022’s confirmed list of over 1,000 exhibitors from 40 countries for the upcoming event, has left many enthusiastic for its anticipated return. Beauty companies from all around the world will showcase their offerings across five halls (Singapore EXPO Halls 2 to 6), and cover a massive exhibition area of up to 50,000 sqm. Apart from Italy, these pavilions will also be hosted by countries such as Australia, the United States of America, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, Mainland China, Malaysia, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Türkiye, the United Kingdom, and West Africa. Owing to the impressive line-up of exhibitors, more than 15,000 attendees are expected to join in the discovery of new products and beauty trends.
This event is truly a confluence of the Italian supplier and the Singaporean consumer and is highly significant of the time-honoured efforts in boosting the economic relations between the two countries via exports. Cosmoprof Asia 2022 is all set to unveil exciting discoveries in the cosmetic industry and the ITA is geared up to inspire beauty consumers through this wonderful journey of experiencing Italian excellence.
