Hi, I’m Joyce.
I like figuring out how things work and trying better ways to do them.
I grew up with simple money habits, like saving for rainy days and spending within limits.
But I only started to see the bigger picture, like planning ahead, in my mid-20s.
I wish there were a resource or someone who could have guided me earlier.
That’s one reason I started PiggyPlay, to bring these lessons to kids earlier in a fun and simple way.
PiggyPlay is my side project, and I continue working full-time on the design and innovation team at a tech company.
PiggyPlay helps kids aged 5 to 8 learn about money through joyful learning. It’s simple and hands-on, so kids can learn with their parents or on their own.
I wanted to build something from scratch, outside my day job.
When one of my co-founders shared the idea, it made sense.
PiggyPlay is about joyful learning, money habits, and life skills — all good things to support.
Plus, I enjoy working with the team, so I thought, why not?
It took me a while, but I’ve learned to find my own voice and stand by what I believe in. That wasn’t easy at first because I grew up in a family where being quiet and careful around elders was expected. I also used to think being kind meant always saying yes. Over time, I realised kindness also means setting boundaries, and that’s okay.
There’s no one person. I’m inspired by friends, peers, and even people I meet briefly. Those who keep going, no matter the odds, inspire me the most. Let’s chat when we meet, I’d love to swap stories.
I enjoy helping kids pick up useful things that school doesn’t always cover.
It feels good to support them in growing confidence and being a bit more ready for what’s ahead.
Small steps. Move. Pause. Learn. Adjust.
I like to clean the house, take care of my plants, cook simple food, and go for walks. These quiet moments alone help me rest and take mental breaks.
I hope we can share our experiences, good days, bad days, or just everyday stuff. By listening and supporting each other, we can learn and grow together. Knowing we’re not alone makes it easier to keep going and believe in ourselves.
My husband. He’s my steady support, so I can pour my energy into things like PiggyPlay.
Find people who get you.
You don’t have to work together, but having those connections can help you keep going.
When things feel messy, focus on small things within your control.
Find small moments of joy.
Those really help to stay balanced.
