Growth comes from staying relevant and adapting to how customers shop today. This workshop, we partnered with the Singapore Retailers Association (SRA) and held a session at ByteDance Singapore's office to help Fempreneurs understand and use TikTok Shop as a business tool.
Social media is no longer just for sharing content. It has become a powerful platform for discovery and purchase. Many customers now discover products through short videos and live streams, and make buying decisions directly within the app. This is where TikTok Shop comes in, allowing businesses to turn content into sales. During the workshop, the TikTok Shop team introduced Fempreneurs to the basics of the platform. They explained the purpose of TikTok Shop, how it supports business growth, and why it has become an important channel for brands looking to reach new audiences.
Participants were guided step-by-step on how to set up their TikTok Shop, including how to list products, manage their storefront, and understand how the platform works. What may seem complicated at first was broken down into simple and practical steps, making it easier for business owners to get started. Some Fempreneurs had issues with their Tik Tok Shop and were able to solve their issues of the paltform when they were there. The session also covered content creation and live streaming, which are key parts of selling on TikTok Shop. Fempreneurs learned how short-form videos can attract attention, and how live streaming can build trust, customer engagement and encourage real-time purchases. The focus was not on being perfect, but on being authentic, consistent, and relatable.
For many participants, this was a new way of thinking about business. Instead of relying only on physical stores or traditional e-commerce, they began to see how content can become a direct sales channel. It also opened up opportunities for brands to reach customers beyond their usual audience. Beyond the learning, the workshop also created space for connection. Fempreneurs from different industries came together, shared their experiences, and supported one another. Some explored potential collaborations, while others exchanged ideas on how to apply what they learned to their own businesses.
We hope this workship helped Fempreneurs in learning new tools, but growing together in a supportive community. When women come together to share knowledge and opportunities, progress becomes more meaningful and sustainable. We are grateful to the Singapore Retailers Association and the TikTok Shop team for making this session practical, engaging, and easy to understand. Their support has helped our Fempreneurs take their first steps into social commerce with greater confidence.
