Good Recharge at Colmar Tropicale
I had seen so many pictures on social media and I am finally seeing this with my own eyes! A picturesque French-themed resort with fantasy-like surroundings, settling at 2,700 feet above sea level amidst 80 acres of natural rainforest in Bukit Tinggi, Pahang. Just a 45-minute drive from Kuala Lumpur city centre, Colmar Tropicale in Bukit Tinggi highlands is a great weekend getaway for those looking to experience a classic French ambience amid lush tropical surroundings without splurging on a plane ticket.
The French village, by Berjaya Hotels, is situated in verdant highlands in Kuala Lumpur and is modelled after the lovely 18th century city of Colmar in Alsace, France. Within the village houses quaint French cafés, art galleries, lively street performances, and plenty of exciting activities for visitors of all ages.
Picturesque French-themed resort with fantasy-like surroundings
The entrance of Colmar Tropicale features a castle drawbridge which leads to a massive cobblestone courtyard filled with colourful flowers, park benches, a water fountain, wishing well, and an intricate cuckoo clock tower that’s inspired by France’s Riquewihr Tower.
Things To Do There
Colmar Tropicale has seven French-themed eateries. As I was exploring the streets, I found a fine dining restaurant, Cigogne, serving authentic French cuisine. I also saw La Boulengarie, is a French bakery with homemade sandwiches and freshly-brewed coffee, great for an afternoon break. There are also many great diners to choose from such as e Vin Wine & Cigar Bar or La Flamme that serves fresh pizza and pastas.
Families can enjoy a day of fun-filled activities in the children’s playground and playroom as well as games at the carnival or the arcade machines. There are street performances by local and international artistes, and for the kids, clown performances. Filled with plenty of retail stores in the main courtyard, visitors can shop for unique handicrafts. Adventure seekers can participate in various recreational activities such as jungle trekking, horseback riding, paintball, and sports such as mountain biking, water volleyball and archery.
The admission fee to Colmar Tropicale is priced at RM16 for adults and RM9 for children aged between 4 and 12. I booked a private vehicle but you can take the shuttle service from Berjaya Times Square in Bukit Bintang and but I believe the price for a private vehicle is more value-for-money. You may choose to visit for Colmar Tropicale a day-trip and stay for the night (it opens till midnight anyway).
If you are in KL, head over to Colmar Tropicale and spend some time appreciating the French culture and food! Let The Ladies Cue know how your holiday goes!
